MR. DAVID M. ZECHMAN:
Profession: Florida’s Ft. Myers is home to the CEO of Mergestone Group and president of The Zechman Group.
- Veteran healthcare executive with over 37 years of experience in the field, including 20 years as CEO of three significant integrated healthcare systems that include tertiary teaching, community, urban, and rural hospitals.
- Speaking engagements include the CEO Forums, World Congress Leadership Summit, Connex International Spring Healthcare Executive Conference, American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Annual Congress, and Becker’s Annual Hospital Conference.
- Leadership achievements include CMS’s designation of McLaren Northern Michigan as a 5-star hospital from 2015 to the present and IBM Watson Health’s recognition of the facility as one of the Top 50 Heart Hospitals in 2018 and 2019.
- ten years in a row (2009–2018) of positive operating margins played a crucial leadership role in the establishment of a cardiovascular service line for Saint Luke’s of Kansas City, an eight-hospital system. Listed by US News & World Report as one of Michigan’s “Top 10 Hospitals” for two years in a row (2017–2018) out of the state’s 164 hospitals.
- “The turnover rate and number of open positions in the healthcare industry are at an all-time high. These expenses, many of which are unbudgeted, put a strain on executives who must work harder to fill the openings and may even endanger patients.
- We must adopt a caring, servant leadership style in order to reduce the expenses associated with the labour shortage. If they have the correct quantity of labour resources and leaders who treat those they lead with compassion and servant leadership, everyone is totally devoted to the purpose and vision of mending patients.
